NYC deigns to cast an eye across the river(s) at our humble metro with a two-page spread in today’s AM New York. While not quite flattering (the opening paragraph refers to Newark as a “once festering locale”), the piece speaks to the hope of a comeback, and features a Q+A with the owners of Hobby’s Deli on Branford Pl.
Q. What type of person would like living in Newark?
A. Someone looking to get in somewhere on the ground floor. There’s tremendous transportation connections. Lots of New York commuters live here. Who moves to up-and-coming neighborhoods? Typically, young people. But a lot of people who grew up in Newark are looking to move back.
Q. How has Newark changed?
A. When NJPAC opened in 1997, it was the beginning of the rebirth of Newark because a lot of businesses moved into town. Q. What changes do you see ahead for Newark?
