Before moving on to the process of plane weaving of bamboo there are two basic terminology that need to be understood by the novice bamboo weaver. These two terms are – Warp and Weft. Warp is the set of parallel bamboo stripes providing the foundation on which plane weaving is done. They are positioned lengthwise on the work bench or work area. Wefts are the bamboo stripes that are inserted widthwise under and over the warp in order to make a design.
Before you a lot your available space to planting bamboo it would first be wise to know more about this plant. Bamboo is actually grass. It grows best in tropical countries but bamboo plants are now gaining popularity even in countries with non-tropical climates. The bamboo plant grows differently depending on the specific kind. Some grow to a reasonable size while others can expand growth both horizontally and spatially. You have to know the kind of bamboo that you will be getting so you do not find yourself with a kind that takes up too much of your available space.
