Bamboo does not need pesticides or herbicides to grow. Similar to grass bamboo grows from its roots and unlike hardwood trees it grows back after it has been cut and can be harvested every year thereafter. Bamboo grows much faster than trees and takes between three to six years to mature.
Do not panic if your bamboo loses its leaves. If you feel disappointed because the lush foliage you hoped for is also subject to the falling of leaves. They are considered to be evergreen plants which grow and lose leaves over time. Not to worry though because the lost leaves will all be replaced. Planting bamboo can be very fulfilling if you are after the foliage. If grown right then they can be a very colorful and refreshing backdrop of any piece of property. If you are willing to take on all these then planting bamboo can be very satisfying and also profitable.
