Gas station workers are on edge after not one but two Exxon stations were targeted, police say, by a suspect flashing a knife but quick to use it.

The Exxon station on Nesbit Street in Newark closed early Monday night. Crime scene investigators were on the scene. Missing from the picture: the attendant.

The family says he is 61-year-old Alfred Scott. He was a constant fixture at the pumps until someone robbed him Monday night and plunged a knife into his side.

“He doesn’t bother anyone. He works, he goes home, he’s been in the service … he doesn’t bother anyone,” said Janet Scott, the victim’s wife.
