7Online.com: Dozen Newark City Employees Arrested
Wow, that’s one way to reduce headcount: Channel 7 reporting that 12 city employees have been rounded up on charges of theft, bribery and official misconduct. Newark City Hall sent a press advisory at 1 o’clock about the official announcement, to take place at 3PM today:

Mayor Cory A. Booker, Inspector General James Wright, and Police Director Garry F. McCarthy will hold a press conference announcing the arrest of a number of municipal employees, on charges of theft and official misconduct, today, January 17, 2008, at the Police/Fire Command Center at 311 Washington Street.
