Newark Seeks Volunteers in Recreation Programs

The Mayor’s office is looking for volunteers for park services throughout the city:

Volunteers are needed to coach athletic teams, chaperone youth field trips, teach art classes, assist homework programs, and much more.

“We are in need of more caring adults who are willing to serve as mentors, teachers and role models for the young people of Newark,” Mayor Booker said. “I urge all those who want to make a difference and create positive changes for our youth to volunteer and help manifest the glory of our city’s greatest strength: the community.”

Mayor Booker Seeks Volunteers to Work in Recreation Programs

Coaches, chaperones, instructors, are all sought

Mayor Cory A. Booker announced today that the City of Newark is seeking volunteers to serve in the city’s recreation programs, to “make things great in 2008.”

Volunteers are needed to coach athletic teams, chaperone youth field trips, teach art classes, assist homework programs, and much more.

“We are in need of more caring adults who are willing to serve as mentors, teachers and role models for the young people of Newark,” Mayor Booker said. “I urge all those who want to make a difference and create positive changes for our youth to volunteer and help manifest the glory of our city’s greatest strength: the community.”

Persons interested in volunteering can submit their resumes to the Division of Recreation and Cultural Affairs by mail to the division at 94 William Street, Newark, New Jersey, 07102. Resumes can also be faxed to (973) 424-4030. Please mark resumes to the attention of Zaid Braswell. Some criteria apply to particular volunteer positions. Volunteers need not be Newark residents.
