NJ.com: Suspect is arrested after firing at Newark cops during motor-vehicle stop

A Newark man was arrested early this morning after firing a gun at police officers during a motor vehicle stop then led police on a wild car chase and foot pursuit in the North Ward, officials said.

The suspect, whose identity was not released, fired at least one round at the arresting officers — who returned fire — but neither were apparently struck or injured, said Detective Todd McClendon, a police department spokesman.

The suspect was apprehended and the gun recovered.
