A capital day for the arts

A-La Renee Davis, a 16-year-old junior and vocal major at Arts High School in Newark, believes she was born to be an opera singer. Shes been listening to classical music all her life andsinging it since she was a little girl.

Today she is receiving an Award for Excellence in Music from the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. She is one of 89 high school students in the state who will be recognized for their achievements at the Governors Awards in Arts Education.
