City schools dubbed asthma friendly
The certification recognizes achievement of a proctive medical protocol as opposed to a building requirement.
The 51 schools were the remaining facilities to become Asthma Friendly in the district. Thirty-two schools were recognized last year in August. As a result, now all of Newark’s schools have met the requirement.
By completing the Six Steps to Success, Newark Public Schools made a decision to shift from a reactive response to an asthma emergency to a proactive approach that focuses on prevention.
