Back to School Night

One of the advantages of living in a place like Newark is the access to interesting people like Dr. Clifford Janey, the new superintendent of schools. I got this in my ‘inbox’ recently. I think it’s interesting that Janey was chosen as schools superintendent. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure he’s the most qualified for the job, especially after surviving what sounded like a rigorous screening! It’s just that some ink has been devoted to the budding friendship between Mayor Booker and Washington, D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty, who dismissed Janey as head of that school district shortly after taking office.
This guy is used to taking on challenging districts, to say the least. It should be interesting to hear what he has to say on that night about Newark’s schools.
