The speculation ends today on whom Booker will back for Central Ward councilman for the special election to be held next month.
The elected candidate will replace Councilwoman Dana Rone, who was removed from office after a state judge ruled she abused her office trying to intervene in a traffic stop involving a family member.
Mayor Cory Booker to Endorse Labor Leader Eddie Osborne As Best Candidate to Represent the Central Ward
On Monday, October 20th Mayor Cory Booker, and representatives from Laborers Local 1153 will join with Central Ward community leaders to officially endorse long-time Central Ward resident and labor leader Eddie Osborne as the best candidate to represent the Central Ward in Newark’s City Council during a press conference in the Central Ward’s Thomas Silk Park located on 316-348 First Street. Osborne is one of 13 candidates seeking the seat which was vacated by Councilwoman Dana Rone.
Eddie Osborne is the Business Manager for Laborers Local 1153 which is a 25,000-member statewide union with 1,100 members in Newark. Laborers Local 1153 was the first union to publicly announce its support for Cory Booker when he ran for Mayor in 2006.
