Ramos kicks off his mayoral campaign

Newark councilman Anibal Ramos kicks off run for mayor

“When I reflect on where I’ve been and where I’m heading, it has always been here in the city of Newark,” Ramos told the crowd, which was nearly evenly divided among African Americans and Hispanics — a significant showing for someone who could become the first Hispanic mayor.

On stage with Ramos were Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo, North Ward power broker Stephen Adubato, State Sen. Teresa Ruiz (D-Essex), Essex Freeholder Blonnie Watson, Rev. Ron Christian, East Ward Councilman Augusto Amador and a host of others.
